Resolve and Retribution **Review**

Resolve and Retribution

Michael Holman

Book Review

By, The Book Nymph
5 out of 5 stars

An incredible debut novel by an author that is sure to make waves in the paranormal world.

Resolve and Retribution centers around Ben Hammonds, a young man from a small town in Oregon that is about to discover an entirely new world that is both dangerous and exciting.
While life once consisted of running and training as a long distance runner, and spending time with his loving family, now becomes one of incredible revelations of his lineage and the vampire woman that he loves.

Tabitha, the vampire that saved his life and vanished without a trace, leaving his memory of her in pieces, finally returns to protect him and tell him the truth. The reader learns about Tabitha's past, how her mother turned her into a vampire after being bitten by the very man that she was engaged to marry. We learn this just as Tabitha and Ben do, and find that they are locked in a centuries old war between the immortal race of vampires.

Action packed and gripping from the first page to the last, Resolve and Retribution is one of those novels that you will find yourself unable to put down. The suspense drips from each line, and each twist and turn not only showcases the author's creativity, but his skill for crafting a plot that is unlike many of the vampire fiction you might find today.

Perhaps the biggest achievement of this story is the dialogue. It is crisp, edgy, and doesn't come off as contrived. The way the characters speak to one another is as real as it gets.

Resolve and Retribution is a well-written story with fascinating characters that is sure to delight anyone that enjoys the paranormal, history, and an all around action-packed book.

Fire and Ice: Seasons of the Vampire - Review

Fire and Ice: Seasons of the Vampire 1

The Book Nymph

4 out of 5 stars

Fire and Ice: Seasons of the Vampire 1 is the gripping tale of Noel, a vibrant young woman, and Grayson, a sexy mysterious vampire that she encounters after a dangerous accident one winter.
Noel is on the quest for solitude one fateful Christmas holiday. She has a cabin reserved in the woods, where she plans to spend her time free from civilization. With snow falling in smothering sheets, she takes a perilous turn off the highway, where she plummets to what seems to be her end. A ray of hope arrives in the form of a mysterious man that rescues her from her car, and carries her off to safety.
In his cabin, Grayson cares for her and nurses her back to her usual vibrancy. Though mysterious, she finds him attractive in ways she has never experienced. It does not take long for sparks to fly. Noel is drawn to him within hours. With this, the readers finds that our protagonist is far from shy and reserved. She seeks to seduce him, bend him to her desires. Perhaps it is his vampiric allure. We cannot be sure of what attributes to this almost unnatural instant attraction.
If your scruples aren’t disturbed by this, you will be captivated by their chemistry and subsequent erotic endeavors. Bear in mind that Fire and Ice is a paranormal romance with a heavy erotic undertone.
Noel and Grayson seem to be a compatible match, and yet their heart-warming romance comes to an abrupt end. They enjoy one another’s body, and company, and yet their time ends when Grayson vanishes, leaving her well off with her car intact and bags packed.
This ends the story of Noel and Grayson. Or so it seems. She learns of his vampire nature, and misses him dearly, and hopes that they will meet once again.
A new man enters Noel’s life, and the reader will easily miss this unless they read both the prologue and epilogue of the story. Noel falls for and marries a man named Dante, a once business partner of Grayson’s that dies shortly after their marriage.
Poor Noel seems destined to be alone.

It is the second half of the book, where Noel and her best friend, Suzanne take a trip to Key West to find closure for her loss. This turn of events reveals new revelations, intriguing new characters, and mysteries that will leave the character thirsting for more.

Life Discarded- Review

Life Discarded
Dena Haggerty
Book Review

The Book Nymph

4.5 of 5 Stars

Life Discarded is the tale of Morgan, a woman who believed that her fairy tale romance with her new husband would lead to a happily ever after. However, shortly after her wedding she learns the truth about her husband, but not before suffering constant emotional and physical turmoil.

Dena Haggerty’s Life Discarded dissects the deep seeded issues associated with emotional and mental abuse, and how it can unravel even the most innocent of people and cause them to do things they would never imagine. It also goes a step beyond and adds a layer of intrigue with its suspenseful subplot of a serial rapist on the loose that targets women that resemble our protagonist, Morgan.

Instantly gripping, Life Discarded is an intimate look at Morgan and her secretive husband, Daniel. The story also flashes a brief spotlight on the supporting cast, Ellie and Eric, the best friends of the main characters. While some of Daniel’s actions are far beyond the normal range of emotion and reactions to Morgan’s innocent inquiries and concerns, the reader quickly discovers that there is something not right about him. Nonetheless, this can be attributed to his unstable, somewhat maniacal psyche. With this in mind, one may suspend their level of disbelief and be mindful that many of Daniel’s actions are over the top because he is not a normal person.

The point of the story is to further add to this fact.

Morgan is the extreme opposite of the spectrum. Calm, docile, naïve, and blind to the reality of her husband’s actions. It takes her Ellie, Eric, and a co-worker to constantly take care of her and ultimately show her just how dire her situation is.

Despite the minute flaws of the story and its characters, the reader will find themselves sucked into their world. They’ll will and hope for Morgan to discover the truth about her husband before it is too late.

After multiple suspicious miscarriages, and her heart broken, it will ultimately be too late once Morgan does discover the unimaginable truth.

The Lantern of Dern Blackhammer by, Lawrence BoarerPitchford ***The Book Nymph Review***

The Lantern of Dern Blackhammer
Lawrence BoarerPitchfordThe Book Nymph Review

Synopsis

The city state of Moore conducts a cold war of espionage to further their interests. The average citizen enjoys the theater, a carriage ride, or a walk in the park, all the while evil strives to undo the status quo. Ford must lay hands on an ancient relic that could spell the doom of his city and possibly the world. The problem? Raven Hill, an ambitious mage has eyes for the relic and all the power it will imbue him with. Ford races against time, the elements and fate to keep the single most powerful magical device he knows from falling into the hands of a mad man. If he fails, Ford’s beloved city of Moore, the race of elves, dwarves, and men will bow down to one man who wishes to be a god.

The Lantern of Dern Blackhammer is an epic fantasy with all of the expected factors of the genre, magic, different races, a quest for an important item, and an evil being that seeks to rule the world. While many of these factors may seem formulaic, it is the development of the stories characters that brings this book to life. Epic does not begin to explain BoarerPitchford’s world. From the beginning you will find some fantastical races that you are used to, such as elves and dwarves, but then you are introduced to entirely new beings that can shapeshift and do incredible things.

The characters in this novel are what makes this story glow in the midst of countless attempts to create a story off of the famed Dungeons and Dragons type scenario. While each character starts off in their own world, with their own struggles and personal battles, they are inevitably brought together to form a rag tag band of brothers that stem from commoners to princes.

The meat of the book will catapult you into countless realms. The quest is simple, to find The Lantern of Dern Blackhammer, but it will not be an easy feat. Rich settings, banter, and obstacles add to the beauty of this book.

This book is recommended to anyone that loves an epic fantasy that will surely take you to an enchanted place that you will sorely miss once the story is done. Well done, Lawrence BoarerPitchford.
