Redd's Descent (Cover Reveal & Giveaway)

The Dark Woods series
Book 1/Part 1: Redd’s Descent
The dark fairy tales your mother never told you about.

Celtic folklore warns its people not to enter the Dark Woods at night if you want to live to see the light of day. For Redd Kearney, he has no choice after the death of his grandmother at the hands of the vicious, mythical half-breed creatures. But what he finds is way worse than any childhood legend ever could have warned him about.
Finding himself chained up in the creature’s den, he has two choices: surrender to her evil to stay alive, or die resisting. But the stakes are high when he has a new travel companion whose virtue he needs to keep intact, and when his wife Aine’s life is threatened if he doesn’t comply and give the Alpha what her pack needs to survive.

Can Redd surrender to his dark side without losing himself in the process? Or will Mac’s dark, insatiable desires cause his full descent before he has time to escape?

Redd’s Descent is a dark retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, where roles are reversed and the big bad wolf literally means to eat her victim alive.

“Come, Bane,” Redd said, watching as Bane tracked some animal scent that caught his interest. But Bane didn’t listen this time and trotted deeper into the woods, in the opposite direction from where they needed to go. Redd checked the position of the sun and knew he didn’t have time to spare for this today. His early morning romp with Aine had him cutting it too close for comfort for them to reach the protected clearing by dusk.
Bane peered back over his shoulder and looked at Redd, barking his deep wolfhound howl. He was on the scent of something big, and Redd knew it was futile to keep walking, hoping the dog would follow.
Redd trotted off after his dog, having to almost sprint to keep up with him. He didn’t like where Bane was headed; they were penetrating too deeply into the dark woods. There was a border that needed to be respected; it was an unspoken agreement between the day folk and the creatures that were legend to roam the woods at night. “Bane!” he hollered. “Come!”
The dog kept running, and all Redd could do was trail the flashes of gray and white as Bane quickly covered the forest floor. Just when Redd feared they might be lost, he spotted the dog barking at a tree. He could see ropes tied heavily around the thick trunk of the Sessile Oak. That’s odd, Redd thought. What would someone want with a tree way out here?

But when he turned the corner and saw Bane on his haunches, whimpering at the tree, he knew something wasn’t right. He sprinted toward his dog and gasped when he got to the other side of the massive trunk. Redd ran his hands in the sign of the cross over his body, whispering, “Mother Mary, protect me.”

The Rathemaker Magician **Blog Tour**

The Rathemaker Magician

**Blog Tour**

It started with an invitation.

A rather elegant invitation with a raised, golden, seal introducing Meredith May to the mysterious, enigmatic, magician Icarus Bell.

But when she walked through his front door, Meredith entered a world where magic wasn’t only an illusion. Where a man made of gears was tied to her ill father. Where houses imprisoned people and dragons sprang from tattoos.

As she traveled between worlds through the glorious gate known as the “Rathe”, fighting rare creatures, and a witch, Meredith held fast to one thing— returning to Manhattan in 1946 to save her father.

And if that included completing three dangerous, impossible tasks in private—while dealing with angels and witches in public, and breaking the curse laid upon Icarus Bell—then that’s what she would do.

Because though Meredith has no magic of her own, her determination was the only thing that could save her father, Icarus, and three worlds…

Treasure Me, Alpha Four Book  1 Excerpt!

At the sound of the voice behind her, Sophie gasped and spun around, her free fist raised and ready to put up a fight, even more shocked at the sight of Rebel standing directly in her line of vision. In the heat of the moment, she wasn’t sure if it was paranoia or extreme fear – not that it mattered which one – but one or the other amped up her adrenaline and pretty much dictated her response. Without warning, her fist connected with his brick wall of a chest.
Not one word left his lips and he stood stoic, obviously not bothered in the least by her attack. Probably because her fist bounced off like a rubber ball. His lips curved into a smirk.
“Easy there, tiger.”
Ignoring his smooth, rich response and thigh-tightening smirk, she stood on her tiptoes, wrapped both hands around his equally-muscled shoulders, and shook him. Never mind that she couldn’t move the mountain in front of her.
“You scared me to death!”
With little effort, he peeled her fingers from his muscle, placed a hand to the small of her back and then led her to an annoying familiar vehicle parked at the curb; so much for avoiding a bodyguard. As if he’d done it a thousand times before, he opened the passenger door and then gestured at the seat.
“In.”
Although still somewhat shocked by the whole ordeal, she managed to find a tiny bit of resistance. She planted her feet on the curb and raised an eyebrow.
For a few seconds, they both stood stoic, engaged in a silent battle of wills. She had no idea just how stubborn he could be, but she knew her own stamina and had no intention of giving in.
“Get in the car, Sophie.”
Still, she stood immobile, her eyes narrowed, determined to wait him out. For several seconds, they simply stared at each other, gazes locked, each issuing a silent dare. Sophie didn’t care if her eyes caught fire, she would win this showdown. Finally, he released a hard breath.
“Please.”
She gave him what she intended to be a cheeky smile and entered the vehicle. He shook his head, closed the door, and then entered the driver’s side several seconds later.
“Are you always this difficult?”
“Always.”
He chuckled as he drove away from the curb and into traffic. “Where were you headed?”
“To my studio.”
“Normally, the tail needs that information.”
She shrugged. “Normally.”
“Good thing I was up early.”
“Luck.”
“You wish. I knew you wouldn’t follow instructions.”
“Really? What gave you that impression?”
“Your father didn’t tell you much about me, did he?”
“No.”
“Good thing.”
            “Why?”
“If the Senator had told you even half of what he knows about me, you wouldn’t have gotten in the truck.”
She swallowed hard – not out of fear like she probably should have, but to keep the twenty or so questions from escaping out of sheer intrigue. Apparently this man had deep dark secrets – ones she wanted very much for him to expose.
“That still doesn’t explain how you claim to have known I wouldn’t follow instructions.”
He moved his head toward the rearview mirror and then turned it to the front windshield. “I was an Army Ranger, a tracker to be exact. I’m trained to read people.” He turned and grinned. “I knew what you planned before you did.”
“Is that so?”
He simply nodded without hesitation, confidence oozing from every pore in his body. Oddly, the arrogance didn’t offend her. Instead, her mouth watered and her breasts tightened to the extent that she was sure her nipples might poke a hole in her blouse. She dabbed the corners of her mouth with her tongue. No sense letting him see her slobber all over him like a rabid dog.
“Okay then, O wise one, what do you suppose I’ll do next?”
He released another of those knee-weakening smirks and suddenly she wanted to kiss it off his face. Press her lips against his and nibble her way all around them until she literally swallowed him whole. As strong as she knew this man to be, there was absolutely no doubt in her mind that his kisses would be hard and dominating. In an attempt at self-control, she folded her arms across her chest and attempted to appear smug.
In what she dubbed an I’m-so-smooth manner, he changed lanes and then parked the vehicle next to a curb. “Now you’ll go inside your studio and explain to your assistant – Robert, if I remember correctly – why Mrs. Vanderbuilt’s painting wasn’t returned to your studio last night as planned.”
She turned and glanced out the passenger window at the scripted lettering on the building there. Treasure Me. Okay so he was exactly right.
She turned and raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you coming along?”
“I was under the impression you didn’t want a bodyguard.”
“I don’t.” She reached for the door handle and pulled, annoyed when the door wouldn’t budge.
When she lifted her gaze to his and frowned, he snickered and then the click of the locks sounded in the silence.
“Five minutes,” he said.
She opened the door, stepped out and then glanced back at him. “Ten,” she said as she slammed the door on any further response.

An Interview with M.E. Franco!

An Interview with M.E. Franco!

Why do you write?
A: I write because I love it. It's always been a great outlet for my thoughts and ideas. Characters are always moving through my brain, and I enjoy telling their stories.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
A: I've been writing poetry and short stories for as long as I can remember. I started several books, but I could never finish more than a few chapters. The summer before I wrote "Where Will You Run?, I was chatting with my sister and my best friend. We all loved reading paranormal romance/urban fantasy books, so I told them I had a few ideas of my own. When I shared my story ideas with them, they threatened me with bodily harm if I didn't write them. They picked the plot they liked best, and then they kept asking me for the next chapter and giving me feedback until the book was completed.

Do you write full-time or part-time?
A: Part-time unfortunately.

Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
A: Nighttime is my favorite time to write. It's quiet and dark, and it seems to be the time when my imagination is most active. I'll take whatever free time I can find though.

Do you write on a typewriter, computer, dictate or longhand?
A: Computer all the way.

Where do your ideas come from?
A: I get ideas from everything around me. Sometimes a good song will inspire a story idea, a beautiful picture, or tales from the lives of others.

What is the hardest thing about writing?
A: Those days when nothing comes out the way I want it to, and everything I write is garbage. Since I have a limited amount of time to write, I used to get so frustrated.  Then another author told me that even the bad days are good because you're writing. Even if you don't publish it, you're writing. The more you write, the better you get.
What is the easiest thing about writing?
A: Trusting my characters and letting them drive the story. Sometimes even I don't know what's going to happen, and that can be both frustrating and exciting.
How long on average does it take you to write a book?
A: It depends. If I could write full time, I could probably finish a book in three months or less. When I get possessed, I can write for hours without stopping.
Do you ever get writer’s Block?
A: Yes, grrrr.

Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writer’s block?
A. Luckily, I have very wise friends who have given me some great advice. Just write. Don't worry about your current project(s). Try writing a poem, a blog, a letter to a friend, anything to keep your brain going. Another great suggestion is doing research. I was stuck on Where Will You Hide?, and when a friend recommended that, I thought he was crazy. Not only did a I have a great time doing research for my book, but it gave me the ideas and inspiration I needed to move the story forward.

After writing poems and short stories for a number of years, I finally got brave and wrote a book which is the first of a series. It's a paranormal romance called Where Will You Run? I live with my amazing husband, 2 crazy kids, my dad, two dogs and the rest of the Franco zoo.

Resolve and Retribution **COVER REVEAL**

Resolve and Retribution

**COVER REVEAL**

By day, Ben Hammonds leads a routine life: Oregon state agency office job, distance running, and avoiding traffic when it's possible. But once the sun sets, his life isn't so ordinary. He's in a relationship with a vampire who hasn't drawn breath since she was a young noblewoman in Birmingham, England, during the seventeenth century.

Although Tabitha loves him, there's a secret she can't bring herself to divulge from that era. As Ben learns the hard way, there are rules for all-humans and vampires alike. He must decide how far he'll go to protect loved ones when an ancient undead adversary of Tabitha's intensifies an already bloody vampire power struggle.

And he must do it within his own hometown.

Available on Amazon 2/1/16

Hi, I'm Michael W. Holman--pleased to meet you.
Here's part of what BlueInk Review had to say about my first book: "Resolve And Retribution is an original genre novel sure to delight resolute vampire aficionados. The satisfying ending leaves readers hoping for more." If you would like to read their whole review, I invite you to visit www.blueinkreview.com when the opportunity presents itself.
I don't have a background in the construction industry, but I'd like to use an analogy as if I did. The foundation for my first novel was actually poured in the late 90's when a pen-pal I had in Birmingham England sent me a number of documents that contained interesting facts about the city's history, in addition to travel-related informative brochures. I regret to say my pen-pal and I lost contact with each other long ago. However, the material she mailed me remains in my possession to this day. Rather sentimental--perhaps antiquated since our planet's living in the Digital Age--but that's the way I roll.
As I said, the documents Jane sent were the foundation, but the building didn't actually get started until 2009, when I watched a DVD in my collection and a supporting character asked the lead one if he'd "ever written that book". When the sad reply was negative, a spark ignited inside. I remember telling myself "That WILL NOT happen to ME."
I began to ask myself what if. What if I wrote a story of vampires but with origins unlike what I'd read in works I'd enjoyed? What if it was the GUY who was the human with bills to pay and a job to do and his romantic interest stopped aging when she was a young noblewoman during England's Civil War? And what if, despite all the supernatural powers of the undead she possessed, it was that ordinary man's free will which would decide her fate in a VAMPIRE civil war?
So, there's the background of how "Resolve And Retribution" went from a concept to a novel that was published in September of 2013.
Will others agree with those five Amazon customers who enjoyed my first book enough to give it the coveted 5-star rating? I hope so, but I have no control over that, so I'll deploy the same power my fictional character lead character/narrator Ben does and use my free will to decide stress is stupid, thus I won't poison myself with it.
Besides, I don't have TIME for foolishness. I'm working on my sequel novel ("Returns And Reunions") after all--well--when I'm not on duty at my ODOT work station or running in Salem Oregon's Bush Park.
All the best to you and yours.

Meet Author, M.T. Magee

Meet Author, M.T. Magee

Hi Everyone,
My name is M.T.Magee and I live in New England on our small farm with my husband and son.
We raise an assortment of silly goats, quiet rabbits, far too many ducks and chickens, and a high strung Border Collie cross named Gronk. I have always loved fantasy and fell in love with Tolkien at age eleven. I read all of his works at age twelve. I have been writing stories since I was ten years old and have always wanted to be an author. After fulfilling my dream of becoming a nurse, marrying the love of my life and having two wonderful sons, I have finally been able to fulfill my first dream of publishing my first book. My youngest son is severely disabled and I am his full-time caregiver. The long winter months here in New England make it virtually impossible to go out very often, so I used this time to begin my story The Treasure of Gwenlais. Fifteen months and 1144 pages later I am very happy to present my story to all of you. I love strong female characters, who are still able to convey a sense of vulnerability and be very relateable. I also love strong male leads who are not afraid to show their soft side. Love of family is important to me as I am sure it is to everyone and I convey this in my story.
So welcome to the world I have created and I hope you enjoy visiting often. I hope you all enjoy the brilliant work of my cover artist Tyler Donnelly.
The world I have created, comes from the inspiration of both my Scottish heritage and my husband's Irish descent, with pride and respect for both cultures. The beauty of the Scottish Highlands, as well as the lush rolling meadows of Ireland, serve as a backdrop for the mythical realm of Rienfield. Many of the names of villages and towns that are used are actual names of towns and villages of Scotland and Ireland. They are used in direct correlation for what their rich past made them known for and is applied with loving respect for their history in the story. Many of the names of the characters are Irish, Scottish, or Gaelic, again showing my love and admiration for our heritages. The characters also speak Old Irish, from time to time, referring to it as 'old speak.' I hope you will find this as fascinating and beautiful as I did. You will find the Kingdoms of Gwenlais and Heathwin filled with wonder, danger, adventure, romance, love of family as well as betrayal.
The people, races, and beings, will beckon you to return and visit, over and again, sharing in their joys, sorrows, tragedies and triumphs. The photos I have added our my inspirations for the backdrop of my story.

Richard Armitage, is the physical inspiration for my male lead Caleb, and is actually a funny story. My husband and oldest son were watching BBC's Robin Hood. I looked up from my computer and said
" Oh my gosh that's Caleb!" Both son and husband look at each other and then me in total confusion.
"No hon, this is Guy of Gisborne," my husband informed me.
I then preceded to explain, that the character Caleb in my book looks just like that. Both husband and son look at each other again smirking, then turn back to watch the show. That is when I started paying more attention to Richard Armitage.
I was able to create my female lead Laurel, in The Treasure of Gwenlais, by going to a makeover site, looked for a model who resembled what I had envisioned Laurel to look like. I adjusted eye color, skin tone, hair style and color, eyebrow shape. Then Laurel was born.

So my friends, find your comfortable reading place, and immerse yourself in the lives of the warm, courageous, humorous, and sometimes frightening characters, which make up the world of Rienfield.

Check out her book:

Princess Laurel of Gwenlais, finds herself tragically and quickly thrust into a world of danger, so unlike the idyllic and sheltered life she has known. These dangers from an unknown enemy, also unexpectedly throw her into the arms of Caleb, the warrior Prince of Heathwin, the nearby kingdom in which Gwenlais has a tense alliance with. The more refined people of Gwenlais, find their neighbors and protectors of the West necessary, but consider them uncouth and sometimes barbaric.

The long and bloody feud between Heathwin, and the mysterious, frightening, and misunderstood, race of beings, called the Rabkins, had finally reached an uneasy truce, by the hard fought and diligent efforts of Prince Caleb. This fragile agreement, was soon shattered by an attack from outside, that threaten both kingdoms of Gwenlais and Heathwin. Laurel and Caleb find themselves, not only fighting for the peace and existence of their kingdoms, but fighting for their new found love that is imperiled at every turn from a nameless enemy, and their own people as well.

Laurel follows her calling, by beginning her training in the ancient healing arts of the Ollams. She soon finds that her skills may be needed to heal more than just the physical wounds of others, but also the wounds of the heart, long put upon by the people of both she and Caleb’s kingdoms by the mistrust and bigotries of either side. As they draw closer together, they discover just how far this unknown enemy, has gone to tear them apart from within. They must together, find a way to rise above old and long standing prejudices, and form a much stronger alliance in order to fight against the new enemy from outside of their borders, that threatens their very survival.

This is the epic world of Rienfield. A domain filled with beauty, danger, amazing races and cultures. You will find the love and strong ties of family. As well as romance, humor, adventure and tragedy, while the people and beings of Rienfield, search for peace and truth in their way of life.
